The conference venue is in Zielona Góra - a city with an area of about 60 km² located in the central western part of Poland on seven hills between the Odra River and the Bóbr River with a population of about 120 thousand inhabitants. It is the headquarters of the Chief Executive and the Regional Assembly of the Lubuskie Voivodeship.

One of the city's advantages is its location, close to major communication routes. Zielona Góra is situated 150 km from Poznań, 175 km from Wrocław, 160 km from Germany's capital, Berlin, 290 km from the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, and 450 km from Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Close to the town, in Babimost, there is an airport, located 34 km north-east of the city and which offers daily regular flights to Warsaw and back. Just a few dozen kilometres to the west there are several border crossings with Germany in Słubice, Gubin, Zasieki, Łęknica, and Olszyna.

The city has been known for its wines for centuries. The first wineries around the city were built in 1314. At Paradyż Abbey, near Zielona Góra, monks have been making wine since 1250. During the communist era wine production was reduced, but since 1990 it has recovered. Since 1852 an annual Wine Festival has taken place in the town and is officially supported by the City Council.

Zielona Góra is host to a number of other major events, such as the Green Town of Jazz Festival.

The largest academic institution in the Lubuskie Voivodeship is the University of Zielona Góra, established in 2001. However, the academic tradition has a much longer history, as the University of Zielona Góra continues the traditions and heritage of the Higher School of Engineering (established in 1965 and transformed into the Technical University of Zielona Góra in 1969) and the Tadeusz Kotarbiński Pedagogical University in Zielona Góra (established in 1973) in each of their respective fields of research and teaching. It is one of the youngest universities in Poland. The main buildings are located on two campuses: Campus "A" on Podgórna street and Campus "B" on Wojska Polskiego street. The Rector's office is located near the Old Town, on Licealna street.

The University of Zielona Góra employs 1,500 employees, including 900 academic staff and 600 administrative staff and service personnel. The academic staff includes 76 professors and 164 associate professors.

The organizational structure of the University comprises 10 faculties. In the academic year 2011/2012 the University over 15.5 thousand students were enrolled in 43 subject areas on different types of courses (full-time and part-time) conducted at various levels (undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and doctoral). The University has rights to confer postdoctoral (doctor habilitatus) degrees in 3 disciplines (electrical engineering, history, and mathematics) and doctoral degrees in 11 disciplines (astronomy, computer science, education, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, history, mathematics, mechanical engineering and machine operation, structural engineering, philosophy, and physics).

The University cooperates at an international level in research in the following areas: joint research within intergovernmental agreements, joint international conferences and symposiums, joint projects within EU Programmes (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, 7th Framework Programme etc.)

The University offers a double diploma (partner: Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen) in electrical engineering and computer science. The University has cooperated with over 130 foreign higher education intuitions from all over the world, as well as realizing and participating in many international/European projects.
